An homage to Japan

Project: Ubi Grove

For a Singaporean-Japanese couple, Ubi Grove is more than just a place of residence, but a tribute to the wife's Japanese heritage.

Naturally, our North Star was purist modern Japanese design, focusing on harmony and balance, clean lines, and natural elements. Above all, the couple envisioned a sanctuary for both work and relaxation.

To evoke a sense of Zen, we wove neutral tones throughout the home. White walls, earth tones and birch wood hues were repeated throughout the house to create a serene tapestry. Each piece of furniture and appliance was meticulously chosen from distinguished Japanese brands and traditional artisans, ensuring the theme resonated with authenticity. In the kitchen and bathrooms, we introduced bold contrasts while maintaining an earthy palette. Concrete-like countertops created visual juxtaposition, while the recessed cabinet handles brought forth simplicity.

Lastly, we expanded the living area by transforming one bedroom into a versatile open study, further enhancing the sense of space and tranquility. Overall, this project represents a beautiful homage to Japan, reflecting a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
