Finding harmony & tranquility in eclecticism.

Project: Jalan Sempadan

For our client, a creative professional with a passion for slow living, the vision was to transform a 60s walk-up rental into an inspiring bachelor pad.

This space needed to double as a home office, while incorporating natural materials for a strong connection to nature. Embracing the unit's eclectic charm, we built on its existing features, such as mosaic floor tiles and nostalgic airflow blocks, to create a unique and harmonious design.

The design palette featured lime wash paint in varying tones — off-white with warm undertones for the living room, cooler undertones for the study and bedroom, and light beige with pink undertones for the kitchen.

Complementing the wabi-sabi theme, a pop of turquoise blue in the study’s Hay Shelf system provided vibrant contrast. Key furniture pieces included a made-to-order viola aurora marble dining table, a travertine glass coffee top table, and oriental solid wood consoles, each contributing to a cohesive yet dynamic aesthetic. Unique designer standing lamps and a wall-hung light piece added a touch of personality, showcasing the client's daring use of mismatched materials.

Ultimately, this project transformed a rented space into a bespoke sanctuary that blends modern design with timeless elegance, perfectly tailored to the client's lifestyle and creative spirit.
